How To Stop A Crime Before It Even Happens

Nowadays, more and more crimes are making people feel unsafe. There’s a car being stolen here and there, and reports of assaults are never-ending. You can’t stop their desire and ability to commit crime. However, you can avoid being a victim by not giving them the opportunity to attack you. How? Know basic self-defense, and yes, use a stun gun

One of the many reasons why assailants look for easy targets, women in particular, is because they can’t or won’t fight back. Tom Patire, the author of the book “Personal Protection Handbook,” said in a CBS News interview, that women are common targets because of two reasons: 1)” they always have a long list of things to do,” and 2) “bad guys like to air out what they’re going to do while staying in the shadows and just listening to women talk.”

Of course, it is best to avoid becoming a victim of a crime. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to set super strict restrictions on the things that you do or places where you go. It means that you should be more careful, cautious, and alert to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Here are some tips and strategies that you can follow so you don’t become a victim of a would-be attack.

Always be aware of who is around you, especially when walking alone on the street. Take a well-lighted route, and if someone looks suspicious, go to a nearby store. If you feel the need to use your cell phone, do so in a store and NOT on the street. Much better if you have a cell phone stun gun, which is a non-lethal, self-protection weapon.

Be cautious.
Anticipate danger and be ready for anything wrong that could happen. Be careful when using your cell phone. Criminals tend to target those who are using their cell phones, because they look like they’re busy and not paying attention. Also, avoid wearing too much jewelry when you’re outside.

Drive with a purpose.
When driving, don’t look like you’re lost. Always keep your doors locked. Also, when leaving your car, never forget your keys. Check if the doors are locked and the windows are closed.

Don’t leave anything in your car, even if it’s just trash.
Park in a well-lit space. Criminals like to steal cars that are out of sight from people. If you’re in a restaurant, park where you can see your vehicle. For more information on how to prevent auto theft, go to http://www.defendu.com/cartheft.htm.

Use the ATM in a well-lit and populated place. If you can, use ATM during day-time. Scan the area and observe if there is anyone loitering. After getting your cash, immediately keep it. Stay alert.

Never ever open you’re door to anyone unless you are sure that you know the person. If you can’t view the person from the outside properly, you can install a peephole in your door.

Trust your gut-feel. If you feel uneasy and suspicious about a person following you, it’s most likely that your instincts are telling you to avoid the person. Divert your direction and let him lose his way. Make a sudden turn to a nearby store, if possible.

If all else fails and you are held victim by a criminal, you can still successfully avoid an attack. Here are some self-defense tactics that can help you stop a criminal from committing a crime against you.

Stay Alert and Be Confident
When you are off-guard, the chances are high that you’ll get attacked. When this happens, use your strong self-confidence to show-off that you’re not afraid. This may difficult, but can actually be helpful. Use a high tone, and when if possible, scream as loud as you can. The criminal may also be nervous, and if you shout, he will most likely get distracted.

Don’t Panic
Of course, when you’re in a life-threatening situation, it would be hard not to panic. Then again, panicking will cause you more harm than good. Think clearly and focus on what you can do to stop the criminal. Stay calm and keep your cool. Otherwise, you’ll lose yourself and the criminal will get the best of you.

Be Armed, Use a Weapon
It’s always helpful that you carry with you a self-protection device such as stun guns. Stun guns are non-lethal and they are very useful self-defense weapons. Stun guns for women are becoming popular nowadays, possibly because women are most prone to rape, purse snatching, and robbery.

A stun gun is a contact weapon and its electrical probes must have a direct physical contact with the attacker. A cell phone stun gun, in particular, sends out a loud alarm. The longer the amount of time that the stun gun remains in contact with the assailant, the stronger the stun gun exerts its effect.

If you don’t have a stun gun, you can still use improvised weapons. If you have coins, throw them to the attacker’s face. You can use your bag or purse to slam and aim for the attacker’s head. Shove your shoe down his shin, and kick using your hard-soled shoes and aim for the groin.

Even if the world makes us feel unsafe in public with all the crimes being committed almost everywhere, it is possible that we can avoid being a victim of a crime. Be defensive; use your skills and what you have.

The cellphone stun gun is a marvelous little device. It looks just like a call phone, but inside is a very powerful protection device. These beauties can be carried in plain sight without arousing attention from others as no one will know that you are protected. Give it a look.
